Your Wedding Photographer

Well, you’re reading this now for a few reasons. You want to know a little bit more about the person behind the camera, the person that is going to be with you for one of the biggest days of your life. Most photographers will probably tell you that they like coffee, or they are for badass couples and other things like that. Each to their own, I’d rather give you something a little more in depth. More about life and what gets me out of bed in the morning.

A couple standing by the waterfront, smiling. The man has a camera around his neck, wearing a light shirt and shorts, while the woman wears a white shirt and shorts. Both are wearing sunglasses. The sea and a distant shoreline are visible in the background.

A little about me

I’m a thirty-something year-old father who for most of his twenties and thirties has taught in primary schools in and around Yorkshire. I’ve been fortunate enough to teach hundreds of spectacular children, work alongside extraordinary teachers and of course, serve many communities that face their own hardships. I’m a big believer in people. They’re what make life wonderful.

My love of photography didn’t start with a relative giving me a camera as a toddler or something like that, I bought one with my very first pay packet as I wanted to start a new hobby. Moreover I bought one because I love to travel. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to New Zealand, South East Asia (cue terrible fashion choices in the picture below), a few Pacific Islands etc and photography was the activity I took part in whilst out there. In fact, I learned how to use my first DLSR camera whilst out in Fiji many moons ago.

Three people sitting on stone steps at a historic site, wearing casual clothing, smiling at the camera, with the backdrop of an ancient stone structure.
A smiling man and woman sitting beside each other, holding a baby dressed in a furry outfit. They are seated at a table with a glass of wine and a pint of beer. The setting appears to be cozy, possibly a restaurant or café.

A little about the people I love the most

Family is everything to me. Everything I do is for my beautiful daughter, my most incredible wife and of course our whirlwind of a whippet, Morris. We are the best team and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Vicky is an extremely talented florist, you can check out her out-of-this-world creativity at Vert & Vase, and she is also an extremely talented photographer too - helping other florists with branding and getting their businesses off the ground. We work quite a lot on weddings together in one capacity or another. Together, we’ve moved from Hull to Sheffield and back again, got married, toured the Isle of Wight more times than we’d care to admit but most importantly we’ve had a good laugh along the way. I’m extremely excited for the years ahead.

A greyhound sitting in front of a dark green cloth-draped table with a large floral arrangement in a white vase, featuring pink and cream flowers.

Olive is our wonderful, jig-saw completing, chocolate-munching three year old daughter. She has me wrapped around her finger, and I’ll say she doesn’t to your face, but the reality is far from that. Becoming a dad and being a father is the best job and best purpose I have in this world. Becoming one, practising to be a good one, definitely put a lot into perspective for me and refocused everything in my life.

Morris is our six-year old whippet. He is a grey tornado and is practically a massive cat at this point in time; he is the laziest dog I’ve ever met. He does anything for cheese.

Friends. We’ve been a close knit group of friends for years and, when we aren’t working, we are up in the hills, or tucked away in someones house drinking, playing card games, board games and then eventually heading down to the local. We’ve come on a journey together, travelled everywhere together and it’s been a brilliant.

I’m a very lucky chap to have such a good bunch around me.

A little about what else gets me out of bed in a morning

In my spare time, when I’m not shooting weddings, doing the school run or editing galleries, I do a little bit of charity work for Bliss. This is something that I started last year, taking family photos and asking for a donation to the charity.

My own daughter was born at 29 weeks, a whooping 1.8lbs and spent around 3 months in the NICU at the Jessops Wing. It was a tough time and the NHS worked absolute wonders, it really is miracle work they do in NICUs.

As a way of thanks, I open up my books a few times a year to some ‘pay what you feel’ photo sessions for families. All proceedings then go to the Bliss charity. Keep an eye out for my next one this year in October 2025.

It’s my way of saying thanks.

That’s a little about me and my raison d'être. Family, friends and purpose.
